The Hollywood Cafe is an easy drive from the hotels in and around Tunica.  @TunicaReb originally pointed me to this place but in talking to the locals in and around Tunica, I got at least three more recommendations (one of the guys at the Tunica museum is a regular there). TunicaReb recommended the catfish but my main goal was to try the deep fried pickles.

According to their website:

John Grisham was a regular long before he became a famous author, and he mentioned The Hollywood Cafe several times in his best-seller “A Time to Kill”. Marc Cohn immortalized The Hollywood Cafe in his award winning song “Walking in Memphis”. The Hollywood Cafe is featured prominently in Cohn’s music video by the same title.

As you can see from the outside, you might drive right by.

Inside, they have a map. You can put a pin in the map marking where you are from.

People from all over the world visit this place.

And they have music.  Here is a quote from Mark Cohn’s song in “Walking in Memphis”

Now Muriel plays piano
Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would —
Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
And she said —
“Tell me are you a Christian child?”
And I said “Ma’am I am tonight”

If you don’t just want deep fried pickles, try the combination of onions, pickles and green tomatoes.

And keeping with my theme, the prices are pretty good too!
