When I found out today, my first reaction was “Oh no! I love those Isle folks”. We had a great time there just last year (read about it here). However, for now, it looks like the former Isle folks are safe. According to this article, they plan to hire the 750 existing employees. Change can be hard (some of these folks have been here 20 years) but most people come out of it stronger and better than before. I’m hopeful that will happen for the folks I’ve met there.
It appears the plans are to grow the existing Biloxi property after the deal is done. There were some jokes that the Isle looked like it was decorated by the Golden Girls so I’d bet a face lift is coming too. We will have to wait and see. On the Isle of Capri side, I’m hopeful they will use some of the proceeds in the sale to upgrade their Lula property. We almost visited Lula instead of Biloxi but the Biloxi property is a bit nicer. A few upgrades and I’ll be all over that place. Could this be a win for everyone? I sure hope so!
Despite our travels, we’ve never been to a Golden Nugget Casino. They have casinos in Atlantic City, Laughlin NV, and Las Vegas. I’m hoping to make a trip to Las Vegas in the coming months and will try to check them out. When it comes to food, they seem to be on the ball so that could be a big plus for me (who eats too much 🙂 )
If you want more information, here is the Golden Nugget FAQ on the deal.
