Map of the Isle Road Trip

Map of the Isle Road Trip

My wife, daughter and I hit four Isle hotels and casinos as well as some of the most interesting places in Mississippi and Louisiana.  At the end of the trip, we had totaled 1200 miles and several new friends.

To wrap things up, I thought I’d list out the posts so you can find them in a single location.  Wineries, maps, interesting museums, winning casino stories… they are all here. (more…)

IMG_4384For us gaming folks, it is sometimes nice to get out of the casino for a short break.  After we checked out of the Isle of Capri hotel, we headed over to the Stanton home for a tour (they open at 10am).  If you can get there at the end of March, the flowers are just starting to bloom. IMG_4302Gambling and steamboats have been a part of American culture since before the times of Mark Twain. So, we were pretty happy driving up to the Isle of Capri in Natchez. The riverboat, essentially permanently  docked to the shore, is three levels with slot machines on all of them.  The top level also has a nice buffet. (more…)

IMG_1437If you caught my last post on our upcoming #IsleRoadTrip, you may be wondering who Isle of Capri is. They are not as big as MGM Resorts, Penn National Gaming, Caesars Entertainment, or Boyd Gaming.  You don’t find them in Vegas, Atlantic City, or Monty Carlo.

The Isle is really more of a mid-west and southern casino company.  And they are not small.  They have 15 gaming and entertainment facilities in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  Did I mention Mississippi?  They have three casinos there and we’ll be hitting all of them.

OK folks, we are going to have some fun.  Baby Gambler is on spring break the end of March (for the record, Baby Gambler is 22). Her boyfriend has spring break at a different time so I and Mrs. Gambler are going to take her on one last vacation before graduation.

We have set up a road trip though parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. If you have never been to this part of the country, now is the time to get a twitter account.  We will be tweeting and Pinteresting and blogging along the way.  I’ll be tweeting as usual as @CheapGambler and will use the #IsleRoadTrip tag to stay in touch. We often drive though Hattiesburg on the way to Biloxi and New Orleans and my daughter lives not far away in Tuscaloosa.  I hope the good people there are doing OK.  This article from Reuters has the story.

I found a few videos and pictures of the Torando and its damange. Jump to about two minutes into the first one in to see what happened:
