Last month I mentioned my falling stats due to not blogging as much.  As any social media expert will tell you, few posts = low traffic. At the time, the big news was that the Social Media Tourism conference had chosen Tunica for its next conference in November (even more important now).  I posted about this and resolved to be a better blogger.

Heres where the weirdness started… I made a trip to Vegas and my traffic started rising before I even put out a post. The flooding around the Mississippi especially around Memphis and Tunica was becoming news and I’m guessing some of my Tunica posts were becoming news too (see first 4 columns in the post above)  Of course, being a Tunica Casino regular, I was glued to the internet watching what happened. I wrote about Tunica looking like a “Reel’em in game” (a popular video fishing game at many of the casinos) and when I saw some good pictures and videos, I did a post on this too. These things compounded and I’m now getting well over a 1000 hits a day. Who is your favorite casino to engage with in the world of social media?  Or are you still looking for who to follow or fan?  I took some time to rank and link to all the Tunica casinos, their twitter addresses, Facebook fan pages, and blogs.

My ranking is just my opinion and you are welcome to call me out on anything you don’t agree with.  I’m certainly no social media expert, just someone who likes to connect with the businesses I frequent.  Also, these rankings don’t say anything about the quality of the casinos or hotels – I’m just looking at how useful, helpful and entertaining they are to engage within the online world.

You remember the water cycle from junior high earth science, right? Rain falls, it feeds the flowers and makes rivers, it flows to the ocean, it evaporates, and becomes clouds and then rain.

Casinos have a cycle too. Marketing does promotions to get business, customers get deals and head to the casino towns to take advantage of the deals, the town profits from visitors eating at the restaurants and staying at the hotels, casinos make more money, and do more promotions.

And the customers that have a good time?  They tell their friends.
