SimCity Casino

To pass the time between (casino) gaming trips, I’m playing SimCity. You built and run a city that can specialize in different areas. Having actually been to real life casinos, I figure I can rule this game.  Here is what I’ve learned: (more…)

Map of the Isle Road Trip

My wife, daughter and I hit four Isle hotels and casinos as well as some of the most interesting places in Mississippi and Louisiana.  At the end of the trip, we had totaled 1200 miles and several new friends.

To wrap things up, I thought I’d list out the posts so you can find them in a single location.  Wineries, maps, interesting museums, winning casino stories… they are all here. (more…)

My youngest son has me playing with Google Maps.  I took our #IsleRoadTrip and entered into the dynamic and interactive map below.  The push pins take you to the blog posts I did at each of the Isle of Capri locations we visited.  Give it a try. If the map here is too small, click on the “View Larger Map” at the bottom.

IMG_4384For us gaming folks, it is sometimes nice to get out of the casino for a short break.  After we checked out of the Isle of Capri hotel, we headed over to the Stanton home for a tour (they open at 10am).  If you can get there at the end of March, the flowers are just starting to bloom. IMG_4302Gambling and steamboats have been a part of American culture since before the times of Mark Twain. So, we were pretty happy driving up to the Isle of Capri in Natchez. The riverboat, essentially permanently  docked to the shore, is three levels with slot machines on all of them.  The top level also has a nice buffet. (more…)
